When going through some old photos, I found the strangest thing… a photograph of my great-grandmother… with a gun! This was probably on the farm that she lived on, and of course, this would have been the norm for her back then. But still, the sight of this photo was shocking! (-:

New Year
Happy New Year, everyone! Okay, so it’s already more than half way through January. Anyway, to start the year off right, I would like to revamp this blog (design and all) to be only my personal thoughts, poems, etc. and not any products from my online shops. Although, I might occasionally post some products to let you know what I have been up to. So, with that in mind, I have deleted anything that is not personal musings from this blog, and will be starting another blog that has anything with regards to products. The new products blog should be up and running within the week, so stay tuned.

Here a Vole, There a Vole, Everywhere a Vole
Ever heard of a vole? Well, according to Dictionary.com, a Vole is any of several small mouselike or ratlike rodents of the genus Microtus and related genera, having short limbs and a short tail. Check out the little guy (or gal) that has been hanging around our neighbourhood lately, or specifically, our front lawn eating the bird seed and birch tree seed pods. Sooo cute! It seems it is of the “Meadow” variety. I guess it likes the clay soil in our neighbourhood and how the rainwater pools in certain spots. Meadow Voles like damp, swampy places. Sometimes clay soil after the rain can seem like a swamp! At first, we thought it was a rat when it appeared in our backyard. Then it appeared on our front lawn, happily munching away. And, upon further inspection, the tail was thin. Rats tails are thick and spindly. And it was to cute to be a wild rat! (-: This particular vole has been possibly living under our next door neighbour’s wooden walkway. The hole that it is going into goes under said walkway.
