Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the eyes of a child
I long for You.
Through the eyes of a child
I sit at Your feet,
Listening and learning
of Your Way.

Melt away myself.
Wash me white as snow.
Take away myself
Because, Lord, I want to know
You, through the eyes of a child.

Innocent eyes
Absorbing Your Truth,
Soaking in Your love.
Touch my Heart today, Lord –
I long to feel You
Through the eyes of a child.

Through the eyes of a child
I long for you You.
Through the eyes of a child
I long for Your embrace.
I sit at Your feet,
Listening and learning
Of Your Way and Truth.
Through the eyes of a child
Soaking in Your love.
Through the eyes of a child.
The eyes of a child.
Through the eyes of a child.

  1. That’s the only way we can come and it takes a long time of refining to lose all the garbage that we have collected in life. An excellent poem, worth putting on other sites. Let me know if you want some links. God Bless, Mike.

    • Thank you for the compliment. Even when we have been a Christian for years, it does take time to weed out all of the garbage from our lives to come humbly to our Father and with innocent eyes. (-: I would be interested in seeing what sites you think that this poem would be suitable for. That is very nice of you to think my poem would be a nice addition. I am in the process of compiling another book of my poems as well. Takes some time formatting, etc. etc.

      God Bless,

  2. Nice poem, Coribeth. It is true, our minds become so cluttered with things that we believe to be so important, that demand our attention and our time and frequently distract us from what is truly important in life – our connection with God. A child’s mind is so innocent and uncluttered. That connection is natural. How easily a child sinks into the embrace of her mother or father. I know many adults who shy away from such an embrace, though they desperately need it. He is always there … but we have to come to him and ask for that embrace that will comfort us. We have to stop and take Him in, listen, learn, feel … instead of always running, talking, asserting and insisting. Good start to the day, thanks! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much for your kind words and comments. Your statement “…instead of always running, talking, asserting and insisting.” really struck me! So very true and a big ouch here on my part! lol I think we all need to take the time to actually listen to God instead of telling Him what we want to hear!

      Again, thank you! (-:
