Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the eyes of a child
I long for You.
Through the eyes of a child
I sit at Your feet,
Listening and learning
of Your Way.

Melt away myself.
Wash me white as snow.
Take away myself
Because, Lord, I want to know
You, through the eyes of a child.

Innocent eyes
Absorbing Your Truth,
Soaking in Your love.
Touch my Heart today, Lord –
I long to feel You
Through the eyes of a child.

Through the eyes of a child
I long for you You.
Through the eyes of a child
I long for Your embrace.
I sit at Your feet,
Listening and learning
Of Your Way and Truth.
Through the eyes of a child
Soaking in Your love.
Through the eyes of a child.
The eyes of a child.
Through the eyes of a child.

Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” – Luke 18:16

In our busy lives, do we stop and pray? Do we stop and look for Jesus? Are we the shining the light of Jesus to strangers? Are we able to share hope to those who need comfort? Or are we just another face in the crowd?

Pardon me,
do you know Him?
Pardon me,
have you seen Him?
Pardon me,
can you help me?
Pardon me,
I want to see Jesus.

To just catch a glance
of the One they call
Messiah,
the Redeemer and King.
To just see His wonderful
face.
To be in His presence.
To reach out and touch Him.
To be in His light.

Pardon me,
do you really know Him?
Pardon me,
have you really seen Jesus?
Pardon me.

The Desert

The Desert

Dry wilderness.
Barren land.
Dusty road.
Endless dunes.
Weak and thirsty.
Tired and scared.
Lonely.

Trekking on.
Trekking forward.
Into unknown territory.
Aimlessly wondering.
Aimlessly…lost.

There’s struggle ahead
through the storm.

Stinging eyes.
Gasping for air.

Reaching for hope
is far away-
unless you let it rain.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo

But if not,
I will trust.
But if not,
I will believe.
But if not,
I will stand my ground.
My God will save me from the
fiery furnace.
But if not,
I’ll be unshaken.
But if not,
I’ll hold my faith.

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. – Daniel 3:17-18

Ambush

Ambush

It was an
ambush
only He knew
about
before time
began.
A betrayal
made by
one of His
own friends
who
had
been
deceived
by the Deceiver.

As simple as a
kiss would be
the kiss
of
death
unraveling
a plan.
(Who knew greed
was all it took?)

An innocent Man
arrested for being
the Truth,
dishonoured
by untruth.

He knew what was
next.

He was
treated like a
common
criminal
amoungst
those who
really
were
criminals.
Speaking of Life
to them as He was
dying-
hanging
on a cross.

He knew that His
own plan was
being unraveled-
not by
a kiss
of betrayal
or by deception,
but by
His
own
death.

He had an
ambush
of His own.

Crimson Rain

The words to this poem started rolling around in my head early one morning. I was thinking about how the love and cleansing of Jesus’ love and forgiveness can be like a rain storm that washes away all of the impurities. Then the words Crimson Rain came to the forefront of my thoughts. The poem reminds me of how Christ will whisper in our ear that we are sinning and we must admit it and ask for forgiveness… and then the purification of rain…

Crimson Rain

In the distance
I can hear You
Rolling in
The approaching rain.
Flood my life now
I can feel You
Pouring in
The approaching rain.

In the distance
I can see You
Rolling in
The approaching rain.
Flood my life now
With Your power –
Pour on me
The approaching rain.

Rain on me.
Wash me clean.
Make me pure.
Open wide the flood gates
Of Your love.

Rain on me.
Overwhelm me,
Drown me,
Fill me,
Consume me
With Your
Crimson Rain.
